The Odisha government has constituted a five-member technical committee to oversee the health, welfare and rehabilitation of exotic primates rescued during recent enforcement and wildlife-related operations. The formation of the panel is aimed at bringing together specialised expertise to assess the animals’ condition and provide appropriate guidance on their care and rehabilitation.
The committee is expected to focus on health monitoring, veterinary care, welfare requirements and rehabilitation planning for the rescued primates. Its technical assessment can help authorities determine suitable arrangements for the animals while ensuring that their care is managed in accordance with applicable wildlife and animal-welfare requirements. The initiative also highlights the importance of coordinated expert involvement in handling rescued exotic wildlife.
