An armed dacoity was reported at the Odisha Grameen Bank branch in Khaprapada, under the Baliapal police station in Baleswar district, in September 2026. According to the reported details, the robbers allegedly entered the bank, brandished a gun, and locked the bank staff inside before fleeing with more than ₹13.80 lakh.
Following the incident, special police teams were formed to investigate the robbery and identify those involved. The investigation led to the arrest of five persons in connection with the case. The arrests mark a significant development in the probe, while police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the robbery and the recovery of the looted money and other evidence.
