Durga Puja

Durga Puja is one of the most celebrated autumn festivals in Odisha, bringing together communities for days of devotion, cultural programs, beautifully decorated pandals, and festive gatherings. In Baleshwar district, particularly around Soro, the celebrations create a vibrant atmosphere as families and visitors come together to worship Goddess Durga and participate in local traditions.

Alongside the religious celebrations, Soro has also been associated with cultural gatherings such as Odia and Hindi Kavi Sammelans, where poets and literary enthusiasts come together to present poetry and celebrate the region’s rich literary heritage. The festival combines devotion, art, literature, community participation, and cultural entertainment, making Durga Puja a major social and cultural occasion in the district.
